Sources and method
How we work
We read each fact on a page we can link to, and we note the day we read it. A sentence on this site never says more than its source. When sources disagree, as they do on the walk to Sólheimajökull or on its parking, we give each one with its source.
Nothing here is safety advice of our own. What we say about the risks comes from Safetravel, the Icelandic Meteorological Office, Vatnajökull National Park and the operators, and we say whose words they are. We publish no accident figures, because we have found no source we can stand behind.
We don't say that a tour is running: only your operator can confirm that for your date.
Prices, ratings and what each tour includes come from the tour's own page on GetYourGuide. The details under each list of tours show the day we last read the prices.
Some of our sources are operators that sell the same tours. We list them here, so that you can check what we say.
We earn a commission if you book through our links, at no extra cost to you.
